Vasilis Kontogiannis, MSc
Vasilis is a health economist who joined Symmetron in November 2019. He holds a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics, an MSc in Public Health Practice and an MSc in Economic Evaluation in Healthcare from City University of London. He previously worked as a programme manager at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) where he was responsible for overseeing a complex and diverse portfolio of multimillion applied research projects funded by the government. During that time he earned a certification as a PRINCE2 practitioner.
In November 2018 he moved to Newcastle University and started working as a Health Economist at the Institute of Health and Society. His main projects involved modelling in the field of skin cancer and systematic reviews. As part of his MSc dissertation, he undertook a microsimulation project where he examined the cost-effectiveness of different follow-up surveillance strategies for individuals with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and also the value of a prognostic biomarker in the follow-up schedule.
